Beijing Vizum Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Vizum”) has signed a strategic agreement with the China Unicom Research Institute to establish a joint laboratory dedicated to 5G, AI, and machine vision. The collaboration aims to create a comprehensive, long-term, and stable partnership that will drive the rapid development of AI-powered machine vision in the 5G era and foster benchmark projects within the Chinese AI vision industry.

Looking ahead, Vizum will take an active role in the advancement and exploration of AI machine vision under the 5G framework. The joint laboratory will focus on key technology research, pilot programs for AI and 5G integration, the development of 5G-based AI vision solutions, the exploration of real-world application scenarios, the establishment of industry standards for 5G AI machine vision platforms, and the creation of national-, provincial-, and city-level big data innovation centers.
As China Unicom Group’s dedicated innovation and technology research arm, the China Unicom Research Institute has deep experience and robust technical foundations in 5G, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things. Through this collaboration, both parties will leverage their respective strengths, using the joint lab as a platform to enable transformation and innovation in the field of 5G AI machine vision.
Vizum, an AI company driven by proprietary stereoscopic intelligent vision technology, has already achieved successful deployment of its core products—including Smart Eye and Starlight Eye—across a range of industries.
A clear direction accelerates innovation. As intelligent vision becomes an integral part of robots and smart devices, the accumulation of stereoscopic data in the cloud will give rise to new architectural paradigms. Great innovation is not only defined by function but by its ability to unlock machine imagination—making change an active, intelligent process.
With 2019 marking the inaugural year of 5G and global deployment entering a critical phase, the convergence of Vizum’s groundbreaking stereoscopic vision technology with China Unicom’s robust 5G platform sets the stage for transformative possibilities. This collaboration is expected to catalyze the high-quality development of the “5G + AI + Machine Vision” industrial ecosystem and have a profound impact on the future of intelligent manufacturing.
